Toivola Juhannus

Join the people of Toivola on Saturday, June 23 as they celebrate one of Finland's deepest traditions... the midsummer! The community, founded by Finnish immigrant homesteaders in 1892, has kept the midsummer tradition alive, and each year, young and old gather on the shores of Agate Beach on Lake Superior to light a magnificent kokko (bonfire) and to celebrate the deep ties they keep to each other and to their heritage.
