Finlandia University and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church are pleased to host a special worship experience to recognize and celebrate the Suomi Conference’s 50 years of mission and ministry. The preacher for this special occasion is Rev. Mark Hanson, Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Other special guests and musicians will be on hand for this Sunday morning worship, including Rev. Tom Skrenes, Bishop of the Northern Great Lakes Synod (NGLS) of the ELCA. The Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving is being coordinated by Finlandia University’s Office of the President, Finlandia’s Office of the Chaplain, the Office of the Bishop of the Northern Great Lakes Synod, and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.   
 

Laestadian Lutheran Church

Traditional Laestadian Lutheran worship service in Finnish with side-by-side English translation

Chaplain Juhani Liukkonen of Oulu, Finland, a recently retired Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland-ordained military chaplain, will conduct a traditional Laestadian Lutheran church service in the Finnish language with a skilled side-by-side interpreter rendering the sermon in English. In addition to read Scripture, the service will also include prayers, Finnish hymns, and characteristic Laestadian Lutheran songs, accompanied by Sibelius Academy-trained cantors from the Espoo Cathedral, Sheldon Ylioja and Lea Waaraniemi.

Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
